Trauma-Informed Therapy in San Antonio
From the outside, your life may look put together.
But internally, it can feel like a constant pressure to keep going, keep achieving, keep holding everything together.
You’re thoughtful, capable, and self-aware. And still, self-doubt, anxiety, burnout, or a sense of disconnection can quietly build beneath the surface.
I’m Adriana Canales (she/her),
a trauma-informed therapist based in San Antonio, Texas. My work is shaped by a deep respect for the complexity of being human, especially for those navigating high expectations, cultural identity, and the quiet pressure to hold everything together.
Who I Work With
I work with high-achieving adults, deep feelers, and individuals who are used to showing up for everyone else while quietly carrying a lot internally.
Many of my clients are navigating perfectionism, burnout, identity shifts, or a sense of disconnection from themselves, even when things look “fine” on the outside.
My Approach
I believe meaningful change doesn’t begin by thinking your way out of patterns. It begins by creating enough safety in the body for clarity to emerge.
Many of the struggles my clients experience aren’t due to a lack of insight, but a nervous system that has been carrying too much for too long.
In our work together, we slow things down. We focus on building awareness, regulation, and the capacity to stay present with your experience, without overwhelm or shutdown.
Rather than pushing for quick fixes, this process allows for deeper, more sustainable shifts. You’re not just understanding yourself differently, you’re relating to yourself differently.
This is a space where you don’t have to perform, over-explain, or hold everything together. We work at a pace that feels supportive, intentional, and aligned with your system.
Modalities I Incorporate
My work is rooted in a somatic, trauma-informed approach, meaning we pay close attention to how your experiences live in the body, not just in your thoughts.
I integrate modalities such as EMDR therapy and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to support deeper processing, emotional release, and lasting change.
These modalities allow us to move beyond traditional talk therapy, supporting deeper processing, emotional release, and integration in a way that feels aligned with your nervous system.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel as activating. It can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, and patterns that feel difficult to shift through insight alone.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
KAP offers a different pathway into healing, helping soften internal defenses and create space for new perspectives, emotional release, and reconnection. With thoughtful preparation and integration, these experiences can lead to meaningful and lasting shifts.
